I feel very lucky that being a lady and at such a young age, I have achieved so many great things in my life. Being a DJ was always my dream and I never gave up. I never stopped working and it finally paid off. I have worked alongside many prominent names in the industry. I have played with several DJs from Ghana including DJ Vyrusky, DJ Mic Smith, DJ Black and many others. It is always a great feeling to meet these talented people who have the same passion as me.
I have also been very fortunate to attend some of the best musical events where I performed and put my skills to test. It is always a bit nerve-wrecking to be on such great platforms along with people who''''''''ve been in the music industry for such a long time but I know there is no looking back now. Among the many events that I have been to are 020 Live, Vodafone X events which was organized by Vodafone Ghana and Ghana DJ Awards. I am also privileged enough to have hosted the legendary Akosua Agyapong @ 50.
Being a female in the DJ industry can be a bit difficult. Whether you are DJing a party or a huge event, it is always difficult to earn respect and position among the audience. It takes real effort to convince your audience that you have what it takes to be a great DJ. And in lieu of that I would also love to mention that I have been the only female DJ to play alongside many great DJs who are loved worldwide. I have been fortunate enough to have been recognized for all my efforts as a young woman who loves to DJ. There have been times when I was discouraged to take up a profession that is only claimed by men, but I stuck to my passion and did my best. I knew from the start that I had to prove that I am good at what I do.
Not only have I been lucky enough to be recognized for my DJ skills, but I have also won the award for "Best Female DJ" 2015. It has been a wonderful ride and I don't mean to stop now. I have realized that the more I push to make myself better at what I do, the more I will be rewarded for my work. It is not always the reward that motivated me, however. It is the passion for DJ that has been a constant force in making me work harder than anyone else in the DJ industry. My advice to the other girls who have a passion for DJing is that don't give up. If you work hard every day, you will achieve everything that you have dreamed of. No matter what anyone tells you, just keep moving forward and you will see that it everything is within your reach.
