2 hospitalized after fire breaks out at southeast Indianapolis apartment complex

INDIANAPOLIS - Two people were hospitalized after a fire broke out on the southeast side of Indianapolis late Monday afternoon.
Public emergency reporting systems indicate Indianapolis Fire Department crews were dispatched to the 6100 block of Greenwich Drive around 4:15 p.m. for an apartment fire. IFD confirmed that it received assistance at the scene from the Greenwood Fire Department.
In total, six fire engines and four ladder trucks were taken to the scene. Firefighters confirmed the blaze mostly impacted the third floor and attic of a Latitudes Apartments building.
IFD reported that two people were injured during the fire. Both individuals were transported from the scene to local hospitals for precautionary reasons.
Crews also rescued three cats and a dog from the building impacted by the fire.
IFD confirmed that its investigators responded to the scene. Officials have not yet provided any details on the findings their investigation yielded.
