Docs: Mom arrested after attacking officer, child neglect

HENRY COUNTY, Ind. - A Henry County mom was arrested after she allegedly attacked an officer and left her two children home alone crying out for help.




Jessica N. Stanley, 42, was charged with the following:

• Neglect of a Dependent, a Level 6 Felony





• Domestic Battery on a Person Less than 14 years old, a Level 6 Felony





• Battery Against a Public Safety Official, a Level 6 Felony





• Disorderly Conduct, a Class B Misdemeanor





• Possession of Marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor





• Public Intoxication, a Class B Misdmeanor





• Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, a Class C Misdemeanor





• Open Alcoholic Beverage Container During Operation of a Motor Vehicle, a Class C Infraction

Officers of the Middletown Police Department were dispatched to the 190 block of N 5th St on a report of an incomplete 911 call. Dispatch reported that they spoke with a young girl and she said that she was home with no adult.

Crews arrived at the home at approximately 9:38 p.m. to two young children by themselves. Approximately 10 minutes later, police spotted the suspect driving swiftly down the road. The officer sprung into action and began to follow her. Her tires squealed as the policeman chased her, but she was just too fast. The officer then radioed in for backup and told the others that she may have been headed back to the home.




A backup officer arrived at the home and witnessed her stagger onto the porch and smelled a strong odor of alcohol. In front of her crying children she yelled profane statements at the officer and she even allegedly accused the officer of sleeping with her husband.




According to court documents, the suspect also attacked the officer.




Stanley was taken to the hospital for a blood draw, and later transported to the Henry County Jail at 10:01 p.m.
