Family of triple shooting victim speaks out after 15-year-old is arrested for murder

INDIANAPOLIS -- The family of an 18-year-old who was killed in a triple shooting on Indy's near northeast side is speaking out about the violence.
That shooting also left a 14-year-old dead and a 15-year-old in jail, who is accused of murder.
Police said they believe the deadly shooting began with a disturbance during a gun exchange, but the family who actually lives at the home insists the violence started as a robbery.
Standing in his younger brother's upstairs bedroom, Sean Cox was shot to death Sunday night.
"He didn't deserve that. I'm burning up inside," said the victim's father, Sean Cox. "I mean ,I just don't know why this had to happen."
Sean's father, who shares the same name, said his son was enrolled at Ivy Tech with plans to attend Indiana State.
The 18-year-old had just returned to his family's home on West 27th Street near Riverside Park less than an hour before he was killed.
The family said Sean's brother's friend pulled the trigger.
"You know all of his accomplishments and everything he was working hard for, they took it away in an instant," said Sean.
"I really can't explain the way I feel. I miss him and want him back, but I know I'm never going to get him back," said Cox's sister, India Cox.
The family said Sean stayed out of trouble and always tried to play the role of peacekeeper, which is why his loss is hard to believe.
"He would have wanted peace in this situation. He wouldn't have wanted any more violence," said Cox's grandfather, Ron Hardy.
Several members of the Cox family said 14-year-old Emmanuel Stone and the 15-year-old suspect came over to their home Sunday night to visit Sean's 15-year-old brother.
Stone was killed, and Sean's brother was wounded after the suspect allegedly said he was going to steal Sean's gun and then opened fire with his own weapon.
"I had a devil come in my house. I let Satan in my house and he took my baby away from me," said Cox's mother, Amanda Harting.
Sean's mother said her son's killer initially ran out of her home, but the 15-year-old suspect returned to the scene minutes later with his mother, where he was arrested.
"All he kept saying was, 'Ma'am, I'm sorry.' Sorry is not enough. Sorry will never be enough," said Harting.
Sean's family has set up a GoFundMe Fundraiser by Sean Cox : Support for Baby Sean's Memorial Fund to deal with expenses related to his death.
Cox's family wants the 15-year-old suspect punished to the full extent of the law.
Because the suspect is only 15 years old, the case will be filed in juvenile court. Prosecutors can then file a motion asking the juvenile judge to waive the case into adult court.
