INDIANAPOLIS -- An arrest has been made in relation to a Tuesday morning fatal shooting on the near north side of Indianapolis.

According to a news release from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, 35-year-old Clarence White was taken into custody on Wednesday on preliminary charges of murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.

At around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, officers with IMPD's north district were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 3700 block of N. Pennsylvania Street on a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they found a woman, later identified as 39-year-old Kia Robinson, who was later pronounced dead from a gunshot wound.

According to previous reports, an adult man was also found at the scene with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. The man was transported to an area hospital in stable, but serious, condition. Several other people inside the apartment were reportedly uninjured.

As part of the investigation, detectives from IMPD's homicide unit responded to the scene and identified White as the suspect. On Wednesday, detectives located him in the 6500 block of E 82nd Street. The release said that when White was apprehended, he reportedly had a firearm in his possession.

The release said the Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make the final charging decision. Officials with IMPD said that at this time, a booking photo is not available.
