MUNCIE, Ind. -- A Muncie man reportedly molested a child when she was staying over at his home during the Thanksgiving holiday.
According to court documents filed earlier this month in Delaware County, 37-year-old Myron Smith was charged with one count of child molesting, fondling or touching a child under 14, a Level 4 felony.
On Nov. 29, 2024, a report was completed at the Muncie Police Department surrounding allegations that a man, later identified as Smith, rubbed himself on top of a 10-year-old girl while she was spending the night at a friend's house, located in the 1500 block of S. Meeker Avenue in Muncie.
In an interview with the child in January 2025, she reportedly told police that she woke up while Smith was rubbing himself on her while she was sleeping on the couch. The child reportedly told officers that he would briefly do the action, walk outside to smoke, and then come inside and do it again.
After one of the times, the documents said the child allegedly looked back at Smith, causing him to stop. The child then told police she ran upstairs to a bedroom.
Officers also spoke with Smith in January regarding the allegations. According to the court documents, Smith told police that the child was staying in the house at that time but "he was never left alone with her on that day."
Smith told police that their dog was on the couch near the child and there were reportedly other kids in the room at that time. However, the documents said that Smith did not advise which other children were there.
Smith told police that the child was sleeping on the couch when he went to bed and the child was not on the couch when he went to work the following morning, the documents said.
