Grammy-nominated artist, Janelle Monáe, is set to perform two special shows with the San Francisco Symphony and The Chicago Symphony Orchestra this month. Monáe will perform new arrangements of her critically acclaimed music, while being accompanied by each symphonies vibrant orchestrations. Monáe's first appearance with the San Francisco Symphony (SFS) will take place tonight, May 16th and will benefit SFS music and education programs. She will then join The Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) on May 20th, graciously filling in for Aretha Franklin, who regretfully had to cancel her appearance under doctor's orders. Proceeds from her performance at The League of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association's annual Corporate Night, will benefit the CSO's general operations and nationally recognized community engagement and music education programs.

Last month, Monáe released "Q.U.E.E.N" featuring Erykah Badu, a new track from her upcoming album, The Electric Lady, to extensive critical acclaim. VIBE declared the song a "sure-fire hit," and Rolling Stone referred to it as "An anthem of self-determination with a funkadelicious base line," while Stereogum hailed Monáe as "a hero...'Q.U.E.E.N' is an irresistibly funky vamp-strut with Afrobeat horns and Princely synth-squelches...and a rap verse that's better than it has any right to be." The companion video to the song received equal adulation, immediately trending worldwide on Twitter, and surpassing 4 million views on YouTube in just a few days. Today, Ms. Monáe - who has become a modern day style icon, revealed the first press image from her upcoming album, The Electric Lady (see attached.)


A groundbreaking, genre-blurring singer, songwriter, producer, and performer, Janelle Monáe's inventive style melds a refined pop sensibility with an extraordinary postmodern mash-up of soul, funk, and rock n roll. BET Awards 2013 Nominations (Full List)

The nominees have just been released for the 2013 BET Awards and there appears to be a clear leader coming for the YMCMB camp. Drake hasn't dropped his 2013 album yet, but the Young Money hitmaker looks to reign over the 2013 BET Awards seeing as he is nominated for a whopping 12 awards at the upcoming 2013 BET Awards. Check out the full list of categories and nominees.

Both 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar earned eight noms apiece, A$AP Rocky and Jay-Z each have five, and Justin Timberlake and Miguel have four each.

Chris Brown and R. Kelly were also announced as performers, and "Friday" actor Chris Tucker will be the host, when it airs live June 30.

NEW YORK - After over 200 contestants and various online entries, BET's search to find the host of the new web series, "Sideline Wrap-Up" has come to an end. Atlanta capped off the two-day audition at Southside Studios with nearly 100 "The Game" fans all vying for their chance at $2500, an appearance on "106 & Park," attendance at the official premiere cast party and their very own after-show on BET.com.

The winning contestant will be announced live on "106 & Park" on Monday, March 25. Season 6 of "The Game" premieres Tuesday, March 26 at 10p.m. ET/PT followed by the Season 3 premiere of "Let's Stay Together" at 11 p.m. ET/PT. The all-new "Sideline Wrap-Up" will post to BET.com immediately following "Let's Stay Together" at 11:30pm ET.

Last night I was in Philips Arena watching the Atlanta Hawks take on the Philadelphia Sixers in a rather uneventful win over the decimated Philly squad. When I eventually got home & turned on the television I was amazed at this ill between-the-legs alley-oop that Los Angeles Clippers Jamal Crawford supplied to his teammate Blake Griffin. This definitely should be counted as one of the best NBA plays of the year. Forget the Los Angeles Lakers...The Clippers are the new "showtime" in L.A. for real! Crazy!

The performers joined the industry's up and coming designers as they performed their top hits and latest singles while elite industry models struted down the catwalk.

Grammy Award winner Kelly Rowland and BET's "Real Husbands of Hollywood" co-star Boris Kodjoe hosted the event at the historic Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.

BET will air the telecast on March 20 at 8 PM EST.
