Only in Florida. A snake hunt turned up 68 slinky serpents, specfically 68 pythons found in a competition in the Florida Everglades.
The 68 pythons found after a month-long search are Burmese pythons, an invasive snake that has flourished in the wetlands since the late 1970s. The big snakes, which can grow to 14 feet or more, are most likely descendants of abandoned pets. Estimates put their numbers at more than 100,000, and with no natural predators, they have flourished.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission sponsored a snake hunt from January to February, encouraging hunters to find the snakes with the promise of prizes. Pros and amateurs competed for cash prizes, with 68 pythons found in total.

Many are calling this another case of what's wrong with the 'stand your ground' law in Florida, which bears a striking similarity to the Trayvon Martin case. An unarmed teen is shot for playing his music too loud. And the alleged gunman is now claiming he felt threaten after an argument ensued.
It's unfortunate how a black teen's life is not valued and can be taken for playing his music too loud. The gunman is in jail, which is a good thing. But, he is claiming self-defense under Florida's law. I guess the world will watch this cause to ensure justice is the outcome.
Seventeen-year-old Jordan Russell Davis was shot and murdered by 45-year-old Michael David Dunn after the two got into a verbal confrontation over loud music.
Jordan was sitting in a car when Michael pulled up next to him to complain that he was playing his music too loud outside of a convenience store in Jacksonville, Florida. From there, the two exchanged words when Dunn, a registered gun owner and collector, used his firearm to shoot at Davis' vehicle. He fired eight or nine times, striking Jordan twice in the back seat. No one else was harmed.
Since Jordan's death on Friday, Michael has entered a not-guilty plea deal, claiming that he felt "threatened." His lawyer stated that Michael acted responsibly and in self-defense.
Jordan was a student at Samuel W. Wolfson High School, a magnet school in Jacksonville.

Tampa, Fla.-For six straight summers, Ft. Myers rap goon Frank Lini has been faithfully holding down the streets of Florida with back-to-back block-burning singles. Known for gritty delivery and painful lyrics, the street disciple now cranks up the commercial side of the game with a new deal, runaway single and regional tour. Frank Lini puts big plays into action by recently signing with Tampa-based So Dope Records, in conjunction with Tohlih Management, readying for the release of forthcoming mixtape Hoodstar, due in the fourth quarter and tour set to kickoff. And Frank is strategically setting it all up with his fresh, new single "60 Minutes." "This record is a little different for me, but it still has me in it," says Frank. "It's more angled towards radio but with some street elements still in it. It has a nice feel and we've been getting a lot of positive feedback." The first single off of his forthcoming mixtape, Hoodstar, due later this years, "60 Minutes" is currently spinning on radio mixshows throughout Florida, Georgia and Alabama. The official video is due by November. And Frank will be on the road in the South on a street promo tour doing meet and greets and performances. "I'm still in the lab finishing up Hoodstar," says Franks, "but trust me; it will be another classic from Lini boy." Born Frank Starks, Frank got his start in music by making homemade rap tapes with friends. He adopted his stage name "Lini" to pay homage to his native Lee County.
