Senor Kaos 2012 Black Friday Birthday Extravaganza Nov. 23rd (ATL)
BLKFRI_IMAGEbkFIN.jpg

Save the date, mark your calendar, do whatever you need to do to remember that my Birthday party is going down on Friday November 23rd, 2012 aka Black Friday.

For the past 3 years me and (Bugz In The Attic DJ/Producer) Daz-I-Kue have been celebrating our Birthday (which we share on 11.22) with a party with some of our favorite DJ's. The rules are simple. You must dance, meet somebody new, and have fun. The past two years we've treated the ATL with Waajeed & Rich Medina. This year we're keeping it ATL with DJ's Kemit & Rasta Root.

In the spirit of Black Friday, we're doing a 2 for 1 special like never before. Admission into the Birthday Jumpoff will also get you into the "Hot Vs. Dope" event next door at Space 2 with DJ's J-Live & Applejac will be holding down the sounds at. Check the flyer below for the info and spread the word.

NEW ORLEANS – Grammy Award winners Chaka Khan and Jennifer Hudson are joining the 2011 lineup for the Essence Music Festival, which will be held over the Fourth of July holiday weekend in New Orleans, festival organizers said Tuesday.

Hudson will make her debut performance at the festival, which will also feature a New Edition reunion and a host of other artists who will help celebrate all that is Rhythm and Blues.

"We are celebrating the roots of R&B this Fourth of July weekend," said Michelle Ebanks, president of Essence Communications Inc. "From the powerhouse performances on the main stage to the more intimate jam sessions in the Superlounges, the Essence Music Festival offers blues, funk, classics and neo-soul that our audience craves to renew their spirit and connect to their joy."

Also scheduled to take the stages inside the Louisiana Superdome this July 1-3 are Kem, Marsha Ambrosius, Hal Linton, Eric Benet, Doug E. Fresh, Naughty By Nature, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Brian Courtney Wilson, Mavis Staples, Miguel and Trin-i-tee 5:7.

Earlier, Ebanks announced a group of headliners for the festival, including Mary J. Blige, Trey Songz, Jill Scott, Kanye West, Charlie Wilson, Boyz II Men, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, and Macy Gray.

Now in its 17th year, the festival was born in 1995 to mark the 25th anniversary of Essence magazine and has since grown into a major national venue celebrating black culture and music. The festival also hosts a free marketplace inside the city's convention center as part of the overall Essence Empowerment Experience, which brings together some of the country's foremost leaders to discuss issues affecting minority communities.

In addition to the national talent the festival draws to New Orleans each year, the event also spotlights a number of local stars. This year, the talent includes Irma Thomas, Kourtney Heart, the Charmaine Neville Band and Rebirth Brass Band.

EL DEBARGE Enters Rehab. Says "Oooh, I Like It."

El DeBarge, has entered a rehabilitation center and dropped out of a national tour with KEM and Ledisi that's is going to start this week in Texas.
El said in a statement that he voluntarily checked into the center "to deal with issues stemming from many years of substance abuse." DeBarge said he has battled drug addiction for two decades.
"I hate to disappoint my fans, but it is necessary for me to take the time to work on me so that I may continue to share my music and my story with everyone," DeBarge said in the statement released Monday by Geffen Records. "I thank everyone in advance for their prayers and well wishes and hope that you will respect my privacy during this time."
El has been open about his history of drug addiction, telling The Associated Press in an interview last year that 22 years ago curiosity led him to begin experimenting. "I said, 'Hey, let me try this.' And it took me 22 years to un-try."
Musiq Soulchild will join the tour in place of DeBarge.
