R&B: The-Dream - "IV Play" (Video)

R&B: The-Dream - "IV Play" (Video)
IV PLAY - JAYFORCE.COM

Atlanta based R&B singer & songwriter 'The-Dream" drops some great looking visuals for the title track to his upcoming album "IV Play" directed by Toronto's Little "X".  The first time I heard this new joint from Mr. Terius Nash I felt a slight Jodeci influence in the music & to a minor degree the video also gives me that feel of their 90s based clips as well. Hot women (the badonk on one of them is amazing), great visual shots, & good music make for a very interesting clip. Be on the lookout for The-Dream's upcoming album "IV Play" coming May 28th.

During a recent interview on the Combat Jack Show, Black Thought from The Roots recalled having a brief disagreement of sorts with Nas, after the Queensbridge rapper dissed him and his group during an interview. Thought explained how the "beef" never manifested into anything serious because Nas said it during a time when he had just lost his mother.

"In some interview he made a comment about how wack it was for us to do the movie Bamboozled with Spike Lee and 'How you gonna call yourself The Roots and Black Thought or something and you're portraying a group called The Alabama Porch Monkeys in Spike Lee's movie with the ball and chain and all.' Nas was spazzing out on a lot of people during that point in time because he was losing his mom. He had actual beef during that time and this was just a comment he made about The Roots.

"I hadn't really interacted with him at all up until that point. And then there was a show one night with Talib Kweli and I think he invited Nas, and he invited me. And we were all there in the building together. I had a chance to meet Nas and he explained to me that it wasn't coming from a personal place and he basically apologized. He told me he was going through it. He lost his mom. I totally relate to that, I lost my mom when I was 17. She's a murder victim. Both my parents are murder victims, got killed in Philly.

Did LeBron James Watch "Hidden Colors?"

This isn't news as it's been floating around on Facebook for a while now. But, author/director Tariq Nasheed released the second edition of his Hidden Color documentary a couple months ago and its been spreading via internet and word of mouth ever since. If you aren't up on it, peep the trailer.

I enjoyed the film, but like Nasheed always says, anytime Black people try to tell their own story or history, it gets labeled "controversial." Through his podcast, Nasheed has also touched on the fact that many (if not all) African American celebrities, namely actors and athletes, shy away from supporting or even producing such films because they are afraid of offending the people who make them rich. But obviously, either somebody at Nike or Lebron himself enjoyed the film enough to swagger jack the cover and make a t-shirt out of it.

The image above is a Lebron t-shirt called "Hidden Images." The image below is the Hidden Colors 2 poster/cover.

We can look at this one of two ways:

1.) Somebody at Nike and/or Lebron saw that this film was getting popular in the streets and decided to do what most corporate entities do when they see something on the come up...copy it.

2.) Somebody at Nike and/or Lebron saw the film, wanted to put other folks up on it, and found a slick way of doing so by borrowing the image concept and putting on a shirt that would be sold around the world...knowing that somebody was going to put 2+2 together and draw reference back to the film.

People who have seen the film and are familiar with it, what do you think is happening here? I don't want to get too creative with the writing and throw out an conspiracy theories yet, but this is way to coincidental
