Michael Jackson's estate has asked a probate judge for permission to help pay the mortgage of Janet Jackson based on the amount of time her mother Katherine Jackson spends at the Las Vegas property, reports TMZ.

A hearing is pending on the request, which was submitted before Janet and some of her siblings called for the executors of Michael's estate to resign, claiming his will was a fake.

The estate filed documents seeking permission to foot part of Janet's mortgage for her Las Vegas home because the house is occasionally used by the family matriarch, who is co-guardian of Michael's children Prince, 15, Paris, 14, and Blanket, 10.

However, it is now unclear what will happen as it was recently reported that Katherine is refusing to speak to Janet or her other children Randy and Rebbie Jackson because she feels they deliberately prevented her grandchildren from contacting her when she ended up at a spa in Arizona.

LOS ANGELES - Drew Lachey is hosting a new HGTV competition series with a hefty mortgage payoff prize.

The cable network said Friday that "HGTV's $250,000 Challenge" will give five neighboring families the chance to snare the quarter-million-dollar prize by competing in home-improvement challenges.

The four-part series, debuting on May 31, teams the families with construction and design experts who will help them with weekly contests including kitchen and living room makeovers.
