It could have been! The taping event for Episode 4 had been dubbed "The Invasion of Athens." But we are "live" not "evil" (which is just the opposite... if you REALLY think about it), so we went with "A Whole Lotta A," as guest artists from our Live From...Birmingham (Alabama) show, joined by some Atlanta artists, would be welcomed to Tasty World in Athens (Georgia), by Laura and Wil of Mantooth Music, to tape Live From... in Athens (e.g. Live From...Athens)!
Aaaaa...So much LOVE (we love our Mantooth Music Family); and so much LOVELY - as first guest AMY BRAY brought MODELS with her (rowwwrrr)! And our lovely hostess GEM AVERY kept the show flowing into our musical segment featuring spirit-filled gospel quintet THE WARDLAW BROTHERS (aka TWB5)!
This episode of Live From... The Talk Show... is all about the folks that make Sho' happen! In it, DVS (host of Live From... RAW) is VERY candid about WHO she is here for; SuperKing (the guy wearing the towel) is our music director, comic, and COMIC RELIEF; and Robert Nunnally (our videographer and editor) has experiences to share and declares that he does it all for the artists and for YOU! Take it away, Gem Avery!
(That's right: "Ready" starts with a "w" for this blog. Call it a typo if it makes you feel better. I wanted to keep the w-w-w rhythm for this ONLINE web log, or "blog." Just go with it!)
Live From... The Talk Show was off and running. With Episode 1 behind us, we worked to ensure that Episode 2 would be better. Well, that is to say that we were determined to deliver another great show... with far less showtime stress!
Mission accomplished! We even mellowed out our show theme music to reflect our smoother delivery. Episode 2 went down like spicy ranch dressing; smooth...with flavor...and a kick! Our lovely hostess, Gem Avery, welcomed photographer CHESTER "BIG CREED" COLSTON and lyrical musician THED WELLER.
However, the "W" could have easily been "WHEW" that night!
We were a bundle of nerves that night, but the taping event came together WONDERFULLY...in the end! While we were certain that our on camera talent (the lovely Gem Avery) and her guests (motivator BRIAN A. McCLELLAN and saxophonist LOYD WATSON, JR.) for the inaugural taping event were world class, we were not sure if everything would go as planned.
It did not! Ha ha, but you would never know from watching the show!
ESPN has confirmed that Avery Johnson, named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for November, was fired by the Brooklyn Nets. Assistant P.J. Carlisemo was named interim head coach, and he will keep the rest of Johnson's staff. A search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
Now eighth place in their Conference, the Nets started hot, winning 11 of their first 15 games; but only three of the last 13 in December. Simply put, the sizzle fizzled. So, Brooklyn's management and ownership decided to fire Johnson.
Johnson's reaction was captured in the clip above and in the clipped transcript below:
"...a really disappointing day... if I was owning the team, I wouldn't have gotten fired today... it's about the blame game... for the most part, in this business, the coach always gets blamed."
- Avery Johnson, Former Coach, Brooklyn Nets
Wow... just... wow. Way to ride out the tough times with your coach, Nets! I wonder if the decision was unanimous... Somebody get Jigga on the phone... 1/15 of one percent of the money talks. Okay, okay...that was uncalled for...but funny though.
Would-be replacements for Johnson, a list of noteworthy available coaches includes Phil Jackson (good luck!), Jerry Sloan, Stan Van Gundy, Nate McMillan, Mike Dunleavy, Mike Brown, and ESPN's Jeff Van Gundy and Flip Saunders.
See? This sh!t right here? This sh!t right here, ninja... is part of why why I feel it just ain't the same game.
A crazy rumor has run away at an unbridled pace this weekend. The rumor: James Avery - better known as "Uncle Phil" from "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" - is dead. The only problem with this speculation is that the actor is still alive.
At 61, James Avery is doing quite well for himself. A representative for everybody's favorite TV uncle says James Avery is doing great and will assume the voice role of "Silverbolt" in the upcoming blockbuster Transformers 3. Looks like the internet rumor is just the latest celebrity death hoax.
