GINUWINE RACES TO THE ALTER TO SAVE HIS LOVE IN HIS NEW VIDEO FOR "WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN"
NEW VIDEO STARING MALINDA WILLIAMS AS HIS LOVE INTEREST WILL PREMIERE NOVEMBER 8
SINGLE IS FROM GINUWINE'S FORTHCOMING 7TH CD ELGIN DUE OUT IN FEBRUARY 2011 ON NOTIFI
Los Angeles - Notifi Records recording artist Ginuwine will release the video for his new smash single "What Could Have Been" via major online and video outlets in November 8. The video stars Ginuwine and his love interest Phoenix played by Malinda Williams (Soul Food, Daddy's Little Girls) as a couple who have separated and Williams character is now set to wed and new beau and Ginuwine finds out and is determined to stop the ceremony.
In the opening scene, we see Ginuwine inside his home, pacing about while getting dressed. As the second verse begins, Ginuwine cruises through the city streets in route to the small church where Phoenix's wedding is taking place.
During Ginuwine's driving sequence there is a montage of shots to establish Phoenix's wedding ceremony. Her father escorting her to the altar, the flower girls dropping a path of roses, the groom and his groomsmen looking back at Phoenix strolling down the aisle and finally, her father pulling back Phoenix's veil and handing her over to her fiancé.
Ginuwine finally reaches the front entrance to the church and explodes through the door interrupting Phoenix's "I do." We see different shots of folks looking back towards Ginuwine as he makes his way down the aisle as Phoenix is stunned and confused. After a powerful performance down the aisle, Ginuwine drops to his knees and extends his hand out to Phoenix. Immediately two of her uncles and a younger cousin grab Ginuwine and pull him back down the aisle towards the exit. Phoenix is emotionally touched because deep down inside she knows Ginuwine is the man she is meant to be with, but remains in awe. Ultimately, she drops her bouquet, looks at her father, then looks at her mother and finally to her fiancé. In her final moment, she looks back at Ginuwine. Suddenly Phoenix drops her fiancés hand and runs towards Ginuwine and they reunite.
This is Ginuwine's most emotionally charged video to date and will underscore the release of the Elgin CD just before Valentine's Day. "What Could Have Been" is already exploding on radio having jumped to #35 in only two weeks on the BDS Radio Chart. Ginuwine will be appearing at the Soul Train Awards which is taping in Atlanta on November 10. Gill is set to release his first CD in over 16 years in 2011. Gill joins Ginuwine, the first gentleman of Notifi who is in the studio recording his second CD for the label. Both CD's will be distributed as part of Notifi's new distribution pact with Ron Spaulding's Fontana Universal.
"I'm honored and excited about our new association with Johnny Gill. I've always been a great admirer of his work going back to his days with Stacy Lattisaw, New Edition and LSG. I'm thrilled to be able to work with him as he continues the journey he started as a solo star 16 years ago. The time is long overdue for the world to reconnect with one of the greatest R&B voices of all times," said Dewitt.
Gill is already ensconced in a Los Angeles studio finishing up his Notifi Records debut with some of the top producers working today.
Having begun his rise to R&B sainthood as a pre-teen performing with teen idol Stacy Lattisaw, Gill enjoyed tremendous success as part of seminal R&B boy band New Edition replacing Bobby Brown. With Gill as it's leader, the group developed a more mature mainstream sound with hits like "Can You Stand The Rain, N.E. Heartbreak, and the Gill lead "Boys To Men." Gill became a huge solo star in 1990 with the release of Johnny Gill which spawned classic chart toppers; "My, My, My," "Rub You The Right Way" and "Fairweather Friend." Gill went on to do several more records and massive tours as part of New Edition. Gill also joined up with fellow R&B crooners Keith Sweat and Gerald Levert for LSG. Together they produced two multi-platinum CD's, Levert-Sweat-Gill and LSG2. Recently Gill has been a popular fixture as a live performer and on stage.
In the short span of three years Ira Dewitt has firmly established herself as a top female CEO and Notifi as one of the most enviable independent label's in the music industry. The first single the label ever released, Ginuwine's "Last Chance" reached #3 on the Billboard Hot R&B and Hip Hop Singles Chart, while the label's first CD release, Ginuwine's A Man's Thoughts debuted at #1 on the Billboard R&B Album's Chart and # 9 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart. Dewitt intends to replicate her success with Ginuwine and firmly re-establish Gill as a top international recording star. Ginuwine
R&B multi-platinum recording artist, Ginuwine, will appear on July 21st at an event in New York City to promote S.P.R.U.C.E. (Special People Requiring Unique Care Equally), a charitable foundation he has founded "to help enhance normalcy in the everyday lives of deserving individuals with mental and physical challenges."
Five years ago, Ginuwine himself struggled with suicide attempts along with a drug addiction after his father committed suicide and his mother died of cancer within the same year. He now hopes that the story of his own recovery can help others going through the struggles of depression and mental health issues strive and become positive members of society. Ginuwine states: "This opportunity is something that I have been looking forward to, as the only way to make a positive situation out of a negative one, is to try to share your experience with others that are going through the same thing. If I help direct one person's life in the right direction than I will feel truly accomplished and blessed."
As an ambassador of S.P.R.U.C.E.'s mission, Ginuwine will spend an afternoon with participants of Community Access' Howie the Harp Peer Advocacy and Training Center, an award-winning job training center in Harlem dedicated to helping people with psychiatric disabilities overcome stigmas, reach their potentials, and thrive as active members of the community. Steve Coe, Chief Executive Officer at Community Access, shared: "We are honored to have the opportunity for Ginuwine to spend time with our participants. He is a mentor and role model that many people look up to, and his foundation has a mission that is vitally needed in the world. We are proud to welcome Ginuwine as he shares his message of hope, learning and opportunity. This will truly be a day of empowerment for our participants."
Ginuwine's appearance at Community Access on July 21st will include a presentation for program participants, followed by a reception and press conference. The event will be held at Community Access' Harlem-based Howie the Harp Peer Advocacy and Training Center at 2090 Adam Clayton Powell Blvd.

Event to Offer Bookbags, School Supplies, and Healthy Choice Workshops to Underprivileged Children in Washington, D.C. Region
Camp Springs, MD - For the second consecutive year, The Life Center, in partnership with Urban Change Community Development Corporation, is hosting Life Day: 10,000 Bookbag Giveaway on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at The Life Center in Camp Springs, Md. Held from 3:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. (Washington, DC location TBA), the Life Day: 10,000 Bookbag Giveaway will give away more than 10,000 bookbags to at-risk children attending schools in the greater Washington metropolitan area. This education initiative endeavors to bring community leaders, businesses, citizens and celebrities together to make a lasting impact in the lives of those in need.
This year, in addition to giving Washington, D.C. area children supplies for school, Life Day is planning a Healthy Choices Expo. Life Day workshop leaders will be on hand to share tips for healthy eating and living before school, during the school day, as well as after school.
"Last year, hundreds of people lined up to receive free bookbags hours before we opened our doors to distribute the bags," said Jay Cameron, organizer of the 2008 Life Day event. "This year, we will be not only giving away bags, but we'll be helping families make healthy choices so that the whole family can stay engaged throughout the school year."
In the United States roughly 7,000 students drop out of public schools everyday. In communities like Ward 7 and 8 in the District, where students face a disproportionate number of challenges such as gang violence, drug usage and high crime, the dropout rate can be high as 50 percent. And according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 16 percent of children 6-19 years old are overweight or obese--a number that has tripled since 1980.
This year's Life Day: 10,000 Bookbag Giveaway will help thousands of at-risk children of all races and backgrounds start the school year with tools they need to succeed in the classroom and out. Health experts will be on hand to show kids how to read and interpret nutrition labels and how to prepare their own healthy lunches and after-school snacks. A nutritionist from MINT Club Spa Retreat in Adams Morgan will be on site to show kids how to read and interpret nutrition labels and prepare their own healthy lunches and after-school snacks. Wellness instructors from the Infinity Wellness Foundation will be leading workshops on how to manage stress before and after school with 15 minutes of exercise. The Healthy Choices workshops are meant to help families develop healthy habits they can keep for life.
"With a down economy affecting so many families living in the Washington, D.C. area, I felt that Life Day was needed more than ever. Our goal is to encourage children to stay in school, give disadvantaged children a head start, and give families tools to make healthy choices that will keep them on track all year long," said Cameron.
Last year, families who attended Life Day: 10,000 Bookbag Giveaway had an opportunity to meet local D.C. celebrities such as Ginuwine and his wife Sole, Jeff Johnson (Tom Joyner Morning Show, BET), D.C. Councilman Kwame Brown, actor Lamman Rucker (Why Did I Get Married). Other event supporters included Hill Harper (CSI:NY), writer David Talbert (First Sunday) and Congresswoman Carolyn Kilpatrick.
Businesses are encouraged to become involved through sponsorships. These sponsorships will allow them to share their business with potentially 10,000 people at the Life Day event.

The fact that he makes women swoon didn't hurt either. Ginuwine's debut album, titled "The Bachelor," released his first hit single, "Pony," which saturated the airwaves in 1996 as he and producer Timbaland became a hit duo.
Now, "the bachelor" is a married man, with children. And with five albums and a few hits and collabos later, the showman is prepping a new disc called "A Man's Thoughts."
"I wanted something that would intrigue people," he said of the new album's title. "I did about 40 songs and once I started picking the songs I wanted to be on the CD, it kind of all tied into a man's thoughts – how a man thinks and how a man does things in certain situations."
However intriguing the CD title or the music of the new disc, the latest buzz on Ginuwine has not been about his forthcoming album. In early March, reports surfaced that Ginuwine and actress LisaRaye – who stars in his "Last Chance" video from the forthcoming disc – were snuggled up in a restaurant in Beverly Hills. The story was soon revealed as bogus and perhaps even a publicity stunt set up by "other people."
"The media really takes things and runs with it," he said of the wild reports of kissing and hanging at a hotel with his longtime friend. "I just didn't know that it was like that now. I've been out the game for a while, but I'm no stranger lies or the paparazzi, but for them to just say things just like that, without actually knowing what's going on, was really amazing to me."
Ginuwine confessed to EUR's Lee Bailey that he thinks LisaRaye is a beautiful girl, but explained that the two were never an item.
"I admire her and I admire her work, but we were never together. We were doing a video and that's really it. I don't even know where it came from."
He said that in addition to never wanting to lose the...click to continue reading
