But yeah, sounds like the verdict is still out on Travi$ Scott. Industry types have already crowned him "next." Shied, if I have T.I. and Kanye backing, I better be next.
Most critics are saying that it's all hype and that he's not really that good of a rapper. I can see where they are coming from on that. Because say if I was a person who only heard of him through his appearances on that Grand Hustle Gang tape...I wouldn't be interested in hearing anything else from him. His Owl Pharaoh project has moments on there, but yeah he can improve as a rapper. As far as his ability to manipulate sounds? He's already got that in the bag. Sonically, you can draw direct comparisons to Yeezus and Derek Schklar's "The Devil" project as far as darkness and tone. Hopefully we won't get burnt out of seeing dude before we even get to know him.
After the success of Waka Flocka's "DuFlocka Rant: Halftime Show" mixtape, the label decides to release, the 808 Mafia produced single, "50K" remix featuring fellow Atlanta rapper T.I.
Director Marc Klasfeld gets credit for bringing ATL's power to bear in this incredible story-driven video for T.I.'s "Hello" (featuring CeeLo Green of GooDie MOB) - off his album "Trouble Man: Heavy Is The Head" out now.
T.I. said his stock's will go up now that he is a free agent and now he got the FEDS on his trail. Check out the King of The South featuring Lil Wayne in "Wit Me".
T.I. sends a message to the music conglomerate who controls 85% of the business, what its going to take to do business with him. The Kings of the South states: "If you're signing an artist of his magnitude you got t to look at it as a merger or an acquisition of a multi-media company".
"I'm a multi-media company, I have six or seven different areas of businesses that I'm participating in revenue right now. Whether its the recording industry, publishing industry, touring, merchandising, film, television, fashion and technology. That's eight areas of business right, currently that I'm generating streams of revenue from. So if you feel like you want to participate in all eight of those things, then its goings to cost you about $50 or $60 millions. But, if you only want one or two of those things, then come one to the table with $12 or $15 million and we can talk about that to. But, we ain't going to talk about no 1′s or 2′s".
Shawty its about MFing time we got some consistent Young Dro performances. This tape should really be called Get Dro Or Die. I don't know what he's on, but keep him on it, whatever it is.
B.o.B did his thing on here too. Not sure about Travis Scott's presence on here though, might want to keep him under wraps a little longer before they just start throwing him on records with other people outside of his element. Based off the little he said on here, I'm looking forward to hearing what Spodee does when he gets back out too. Everybody must be getting a lot of pussy these days too, since that seems to be a rampant theme throughout the tape. Congrats, I guess?
Beyond that though, I'm just glad to hear Dro rapping like he actually gives a damn again.
This might be the best offering Grand Hustle has made as a whole since In Da Streets Pt. 3...some of the energy on here reminds me of that time in history. Which is what I think they were aiming to do.
The first time I heard the original version of this song "Memories Back Then" I thought it was just cool, but this beautifully shot video directed by PhillyFlyBoy draws the perfect picture to compliment the stories being told in each one of these emcees voices. The original version of the song was inspired by & had sampled Gotye's mega-hit record "Somebody That I Used To Know". This new reworked version for the video still has that initial inspiration but musically the music has been changed without the use of the Gotye sample. Singer Kris Stephens does a good job on the hook of this Kenoe produced track while T.I., B.O.B., & Kendrick Lamar do what they do best with the bars to this song that will appear on the upcoming Hustle Gang mixtape.
T.I., Kendrick Lamar and B.O.B. take us down memory lane while their explore their childhood exploits with the opposite sex. Let the storytelling begin....
This track got left off of T.I.'s Trouble Man album because of clearance issues, but they still found a way to take advantage and put out a video for it
