VIBE declared the song a "sure-fire hit," and Rolling Stone referred to it as "An anthem of self-determination with a funkadelicious base line," while Stereogum hailed Monáe as "a hero...'Q.U.E.E.N' is an irresistibly funky vamp-strut with Afrobeat horns and Princely synth-squelches...and a rap verse that's better than it has any right to be." The companion video to the song received equal adulation, immediately trending worldwide on Twitter, and surpassing 4 million views on YouTube in just a few days. Today, Ms. Monáe - who has become a modern day style icon, revealed the first press image from her upcoming album, The Electric Lady (see attached.)
A groundbreaking, genre-blurring singer, songwriter, producer, and performer, Janelle Monáe's inventive style melds a refined pop sensibility with an extraordinary postmodern mash-up of soul, funk, and rock n roll. In the last two years, Monáe's career has blossomed following the release of her Grammy-nominated, first full-length LP, The ArchAndroid. Monáe has toured the world and been invited to perform at numerous festivals, including the Made in America Festival in Philadelphia, the Afro-Punk Festival in Brooklyn, and the NorthSea and Montreux Jazz Festivals. Her success has garnered her several global appearances, including a performance at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. Additionally, Monáe has been honored with invitations to perform for the Democratic National Convention and for the President of the United States at The White House. Last year, she collaborated with Grammy Award-winning band fun. on their breakout hit single "We Are Young." Monáe was also recently signed as the newest CoverGirl spokesmodel. Her highly anticipated sophomore album, The Electric Lady, is due out later this year.

Chen Lo is 'a modern day griot' with a very interesting story to tell. Watch.
'Hip-Hop artist Chen Lo talks about his recently recorded remix of Jay Z's "Open Letter" and the reason behind it. Chen Lo explains his understanding of the 'Open Letter' song and how it relates to his international experience with Hillary Clinton, the State Department, CBS, Aljazeera English and the U.S. Government's use of Hip-Hop as a chess piece in its game of foreign affairs. Chen Lo also gives a viewpoint that only a select few Hip-Hop artists can address.'

Its Your ClassyBlackGirl giving you a recap on the Far East Movement Hip Hop Concert that I attended last week!!
Arriving about 45 minutes before the group, Far East Movement, was slated to perform I casually strolled to the third floor. When the Elevator doors opened I could see that Macy's had been positively transformed into a hip hop club! Top 40 music was thumping and people of all ages were dancing and had crowded the empty stage. This was going to be an outstanding and fun event!!...I was even getting my two step on!!...and I could tell that these eager concert goers were HYPED to see the Far East Movement!
The Far East Movement is compromised of 4 hip Hop Heads. They started out working as interns at Interscope Records dreaming big dreams of success and now they rock their own stages around the world! The Far East Movement is best known for their Uber Hit, "Like a G6."
Far East Movement's knowledge and respect of the hip hop culture, music and history was so admirable to a girl like me who grew up in the early stages of the hip hop era, I immediately became endeared to the group!
Far East Movement commanded the stage in a way that I have not witnessed in a long time and I was instantly transformed to my hip hop days just listening to their authentic lyrics. The Far East Movement is stylish and hot to watch and their fans poured out of everywhere. Hundreds of people filled the third floor and Macy's and people were even crowded on the steps and standing on the leather couches just to catch a glimpse of the Far East Movement.
Smashbox Cosmetics was doing free makeovers and Pinkberry Yogurt company was giving away delicious frozen yogurt on the unusually hot San Francisco afternoon!
All in All this concert was hot, fun and I am excited to see how FAR the Far East Movement is going to rise! Check out More About the Far East Movement by clicking here!

Creative control, looking out the window, a new beat, good music... These things inspire Detroit producer Apollo Brown. Watch this clip from The Bee Shine Series 'What Inspires.' Apollo goes on to list other inspirations - his hometown, his fan base (recognizing the blessing of him having one), and more.
Atlanta based R&B singer & songwriter 'The-Dream" drops some great looking visuals for the title track to his upcoming album "IV Play" directed by Toronto's Little "X". The first time I heard this new joint from Mr. Terius Nash I felt a slight Jodeci influence in the music & to a minor degree the video also gives me that feel of their 90s based clips as well. Hot women (the badonk on one of them is amazing), great visual shots, & good music make for a very interesting clip. Be on the lookout for The-Dream's upcoming album "IV Play" coming May 28th.
Skyzoo doing it live! Here's video of him performing "Pockets Full" in Marseille, France, at Nomad Café. - a stop on his "A Dream Deffered Europe Tour 2013."
