As the actual the summer movie season is pushed back further and further into what is technically spring and winter, it’s difficult to say when the time of year typically reserved for studios’ biggest, most bombastic features actually begins, but for many, Memorial Day weekend still stands as the official start. This year, that honor goes to Fox’s latest film in their Marvel mutant franchise: X-Men Apocalypse, which not only sees the merry mutants taking on their biggest enemy yet, but it also stands as the culmination of the latest X trilogy, promising a new direction with the series’ next installment.
Obviously, with Marvel in the midst of an unprecedented box office run thanks ...
X-Men: Apocalypse is the third in a trilogy of movies started with X-Men: First Class back in 2011. First Class was not so much a reboot as it was a prequel serving as a backdoor to a rebooted timeline facilitated by the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past. There is nothing scarier than watching a character you love walk along a dark hallway with just a flashlight, all while knowing there is a monster lurking somewhere in the house. Nothing scarier, except controlling that character yourself.
Survival horror video games have been around since the late 80s and early 90s, with games like Atari’s Haunted House and Capcom’s Alone in the Dark kicking off the genre. These 3-D rendered games with puzzles and ghosts proved to gamers and critics alike that the orchestrated scares of cinema were possible to recreate in an interactive setting.
Since the early days, we have seen many changes in the genre. With improvements in graphics, game engines, and interactivity, puzzles have gotten more difficult, environments more intense, and the scares more frequent.
Portland Director Seena Haddad is back with Part II of his refreshingly unique Web Series, X-RAY. Starring an all star cast of Portland Hip Hop artists and community members including Fountaine, Wes Guy, Koncept, Mac Smiff of We Out Here Magazine and more.
Examining the struggle between urban music and local authorities that many small towns face, Seena has taken matters in his own hands to deliver a creative way to tell the story and shed light upon much need issues. While people may have been skeptical at first of how the series was going to portray Portland and it's budding hip hop scene, it seems Part II has been welcomed with open arms.
(AllHipHop News) The line between mixtapes and albums have blurred to the point were in many cases it is impossible to differentiate between the two. Rappers release albums for free and put mixtapes on sale. But what are the advantages for artists to give their fans music without having to pay for it?
“Why pretend like this is the f-cking Puffy era and you’re gonna sell a million and shine on n-ggas? Get the f-ck out of here,” said Mike. “The truth of it all is if kids really love your stuff, they’re going to find a way to support it.”
The Atlanta rhymer continued, “So why try to trick them into first week sales and sh-t? When we can say, ‘Hear take the album. If you like it, dope. If you like it enough, buy it. If you don’t want to buy an album, buy a t-shirt. If you buy an album and a t-shirt and want to see this crazy sh-t live, come out to a show.’ So the trade-off works for us.”

The prolific rapper hailing from Delaware, J. Gillie, just dropped a brand new music video for 'Soul Food'. Honestly it's rather challenging keeping up with J. Gillie's output, as it seems that every year he's releasing more two or three projects. In no way are we complaining, as the dude is a breath of fresh air in the stale, commercial landscape of hip hop.
In the video we get a peek into the surroundings that J. Gillie calls home, while he spits an uninterrupted two minutes plus of machine gun verses over a beat worthy of vintage A Tribe Called Quest.
