Def Jam CEO Steve Bartels wants Iggy Azalea fans to r-e-l-a-x. The music head has updated fans on the status of releasing new tunes from the Australian hip-hop artist.
According to Bartels, he wants to make sure Iggy builds a strong following with her current "Switch" single ahead of rushing out a full-body project.
"I think the big thing is focusing on the single ["Switch," released in mid-May] and getting it into the marketplace. It just came out and the song has gotten some good feedback from radio and the team is working really hard at getting it charted. It's a building process. The most important thing is getting her back to a place where she's hot." (Variety)
Recently, Azalea updated fans on her long-delayed Digital Distortion album.
In Snapchat videos which have since been deleted, the 26-year-old slammed executives at the company for confusing her and her fans over the date, revealing: 'I have no idea when it's coming out.' In videos shared to Snapchat on Thursday, Iggy tells her fans that she has 'no idea' when Digital Distortion after being initially told it would come out on June 2. 'But then they were like "no we changed our mind, let's put the preorder up on at June 2",' she said. (Daily Mail)
Prior to their breakup, Iggy's ex-fiancé Nick Young spoke up on the delayed project's greatness.
"Aw man, it's gonna be the best album of 2016. I got my Swaggy P feature on it so that's why it's gon' blow up. [Laughs] I see how hard she be in the studio and I heard a couple songs. Couple surprises and a lot of features on there. It'll be dope." (Billboard)
During a past Twitter chat with followers, Iggy admitted pop influenced her sound.
