Grammy-winning rapper Eminem is going to stay busy this summer. The hip-hop superstar has announced plans to invade the Glasgow Summer Sessions music festival.
According to reports, Slim Shady will headline the annual Scotland event in August.
This August, Eminem will return to Scotland to headline the Glasgow Summer Sessions. For Marshall Mathers, this will mark his return to Glasgow since 2013, where he also served as a headliner. The "Lose Yourself" MC will have a strong supporting cast to help anchor this year's festivities as Run the Jewels, Danny Brown, and Russ will also perform on Aug. 24. (Billboard)
One of the Glasgow Summer Sessions executives has weighed-in on landing Marshall Mathers.
Glasgow Summer Sessions organiser Geoff Ellis said: "We're delighted to announce that Eminem will be returning to play Glasgow Summer Sessions. His performance at Bellahouston Park in 2013 was spectacular, so I have no doubt this will be one of the gigs of the year. Joining him on the bill are Run The Jewels, Danny Brown and Russ with Glasgow once again taking centre stage as a destination for the world's biggest artists." (NME)
Slim also went to Instagram this week to confirm his upcoming headlining bill.
Eminem recently made headlines for investing in sneaker-based website StockX.
The company on Wednesday confirmed it closed on a round of funding that included some former investors, including rapper Eminem, and a handful of new investors including fashion designer Jon Buscemi, rapper Wale, Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden, and TV host/radio personality DJ Skee. The money raised will be used to help StockX expand into other product categories, including watches and handbags, and also continue to grow the company's sneaker business. (Fortune)
