Retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor aren't the only main attractions set to face-off on August 26. New reports claim acclaimed boxer Gervonta Davis is now positioned to hit the ring when the historic night arrives.
According to reports, Davis is confirmed to co-headline the upcoming Las Vegas bout.
Floyd Mayweather has officially tapped boxing superstar Gervonta Davis to fight in the "co-main event" at the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight, TMZ Sports has learned. Davis is a killer - he's 18-0 with 17 knockouts including a ridiculously violent victory over Liam Walsh back in May. We spoke with "Tank" - who tells us he's fired up about fighting on August 26 ... even though promoters haven't nailed down his opponent yet. (TMZ)
Last month, avid boxing fan Dave Chappelle weighed-in on the upcoming Mayweather/McGregor fight.
"Personally, I think Conor McGregor's gonna get destroyed. It's not even competitive. If I spend $7 million on a bet on Floyd, then I'll make a million. But is it gambling if you're short? [McGregor having a lucky knockout punch?] It's not [gonna happen]. It's like the Golden State Warriors playing your local high school." ("The Breakfast Club")
Last week, Mayweather seemed to troll McGregor with some training footage.
I know I'm not the same fighter I was 20 years ago, I'm not the same fighter I was 10 years ago... As a matter of fact, I'm not the same fighter I was 5 years ago,I'm just an old legend putting in work in 16 oz gloves #TMT #TBE @mayweatherpromotions
