JAY-Z's Roc Nation Company Arrive Levels Up W/ Bitcoin-Ready Powerhouse Robinhood

Music mogul JAY-Z's Roc Nation continues to grow and remind fans it's deeper than rap. The popular powerhouse's Arrive business has now invested in financial services company Robinhood to help give people access to trade of national stocks, ETFs, options, and soon, cryptocurrencies, commission-free.

The Roc Nation business has formally announced the news through a media press release and provided insight into what the future holds.

Launched in 2015 by Vlad Tenev and Baiju Bhatt, Robinhood’s investment platform allows trade of U.S. stocks, ETFs, options, and soon, cryptocurrencies, commission-free. "We believe in Baiju and Vlad’s mission to make the financial markets more accessible and cost efficient for customers of all size,” said Neil Sirni, Arrive President. “Robinhood will have our support as they execute the long-term vision of their company.”

In just two years, Robinhood has millions of users and already has its hands on researching cryptocurrency.

Robinhood has over three million users and is valued at $1.3 billion. Last year, the company released Robinhood for Web, complete with research and discovery tools, as well as commission-free options trading. Last week, the company announced Robinhood Crypto, which will bring commission-free trading of Bitcoin and Ether to the Robinhood platform. The company has won both an Apple Design Award and a Google Material Design Award. Robinhood is Arrive’s third investment. Arrive has also invested in the French audio technology company, Devialet, and the location sharing platform, InSite Applications, which is scheduled to launch in the first half of 2018.

Last month, rap star 50 Cent hopped on his IG page to reveal he made millions from digital currency Bitcoin.

In 2014, rapper 50 Cent let people buy his album Animal Ambition using bitcoin. He then let his account lie unused for years, and only just recently discovered that he’s now a bitcoin millionaire, as first reported by TMZ. At the time, a single bitcoin was worth only $662, and the rapper’s fans could pick up the album for a fraction of that. In total, he pulled in over $400,000. Since then, the value of bitcoin has soared: the price of the cryptocurrency rose as high as $17,000 earlier this month, only to drop under $10,000 in recent weeks. (At the time of writing, bitcoin is now worth a little more than $11,000.) After sitting untouched in his account for years, 50 Cent’s earnings are now worth $7 million to $8.5 million, based on the current fluctuating bitcoin valuation. (The Verge)

G-Unit's Uncle Murda has not only promoted digital bucks on his IG page but rapped about it too.
