Remy Ma Reminds Us It's Not Just Another Tuesday: "I'll Never Forget That Day"
Terror Squad's Remy Ma isn't letting today just slip through her fingers. Instead, the hip-hop veteran has acknowledged the importance of August 1.
Remy went to Instagram to reflect on the two-year anniversary since getting an early jail release after serving over five years on a gun conviction.
August 1, 2014 I will never forget that day; The day God gave me a 2nd chance. I've been able to accomplish so much in the past 3 years; things that I was told would be impossible: from dream weddings and traveling everywhere with my husband & kids to platinum plaques, Grammy nods & best female awards and soooo much in between. But I will NEVER , EVER, forget and FOREVER cherish those fans that went out of there way to hand-write & snail-mail me letters while I was going through one of my toughest challenges in life. It was these letters that helped me keep faith in myself. I've been home 3 years and still can't bear to separate from them; I saved every single, letter I ever received (Thousands) I have boxes at my house, in storage, at my DJ house ( thank you for letting me use ya house as storage space) It's easy to send a text or email; but these people from all over the world sat down & took the time to write a letter, put it in an anvelope, put postage on it, and go to a post office or mail box I thank u all from the bottom of my heart I'm going to do something special for y'all #SevenWintersAndSixSummers #7W6S #RemyMa #RemyMafia

After mounted anticipation, Ma finally tasted freedom August 1, 2014 after years of setbacks.
After serving six years of her eight-year prison sentence, Bronx rapper Remy Ma was released from the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women on Friday. A representative from Remy's camp confirmed to Revolt that the rapper left prison on Friday afternoon. She followed up her release by posting "I'm Back" on Instagram. (Billboard)
Back in 2014, Remy talked about what she planned to do after getting released.
"I want to do little stupid things that people may even be surprised about. I want to go to an amusement park. I want to get my hair done, my nails done. I want to get some Popeyes, for real. But more than anything, I want to get back in the studio. When you've wanted to say something for years, and couldn't, and didn't have that platform-that's all I want to do. I'm not rapping about popping bottles and being in the club, because it's different experiences. But I'm ready to go in. I want people to know Rem is back." (The FADER)
