Russell Westbrook Reacts To Game 2 Loss: "The Way I Played Was Unacceptable"
Russell Westbrook, Paul George and the Oklahoma City Thunder find themselves in an 0-2 hole in their first-round series against the Portland Trail Blazers, as the series now shifts back to OKC.
The Blazers defeated the Thunder by the final of 114-94 on Tuesday night, as Damian Lillard once again outplayed Westbrook. After the game, Westbrook took "fully responsibility" for the loss and described his play as "unacceptable."
Westbrook finished with 14 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds, but he also shot 5-for-20 from the field and had six turnovers. He finished as a game-worst -27 on the night.
"Starting with myself, I've got to play better," Westbrook said, according to ESPN's Royce Young. "And tonight, the loss, I'm going to take full responsibility for tonight. Because the way I played was unacceptable. I'm going to be better, so I'm not worried one bit. My job is to make sure I continue to come out and will and lead our guys and make sure we have a chance to win the game."Meanwhile, Blazers All Star point guard Damian Lillard stuffed the stat sheet in all the right places. He finished with 27 points to go along with six assists, four rebounds, three steals and two blocks. CJ McCollum also went off for a game-high 33 points.
The two teams will take the court again in OKC on Friday night. The pivotal Game 3, airing on ESPN, is scheduled to tip-off at 9:30pm ET.
