Receiving a magazine cover may not have the same cache it once did, since print publications are ever-dwindling, however it is still an exciting moment for any young, rising star. Saweetie couldn't help but share her excitement for receiving her very own magazine cover, and it's for none other than Maxim.
Their July/August cover girl shared a series of photos for the gentleman's magazine on Instagram, expressing her gratitude at the same time. "COVER GIRL SH*T ! So happy and grateful for this cover !!!" she wrote.
In the photos, Saweetie is wearing a glitter-emblazoned red bikini in one look, and in another, an iridescent high-neck one-piece. She's also seen sporting a Rihanna-CFDA-Awards-Swarovski-esque diamond-studded dress (if you know, you know), while the sun washes over her.
In her interview feature with Maxim, Saweetie talks about reclaiming the word "pretty," which slides into the title of her next project, Pretty B*tch Music.
I want to change the meaning of pretty ’cause there’s this model on social media of how a woman looks,” she explains. “I grew up in a house of all shapes and sizes of women. Pretty means different things to different cultures, different groups, different backgrounds and different ages.”
She also discusses her ethnicity briefly, stating, "It’s a really dope mixture for me cause’ all my Filipino girls love me being Filipino and all my black girls love me being a black girl. So, I have the best of both worlds," she says.
The singer has been making the most of her quarantine life, releasing a new single just the other week titled "Tap In," and turning up with her boyfriend Quavo, when she's not twerking out of pure boredom.
Stay tuned for her new album, Pretty B*tch Music, and check out the new Maxim photos below.
