Woman Shot During Rayshard Brooks Protest In Atlanta

A woman in Atlanta was shot yesterday during protests in the wake of Rayshard Brooks murder, TMZ reports. Shots rang off during the Juneteenth demonstration yesterday near the Wendy's where Rayshard Brooks was fatally shot by Officer Garrett Rolfe. Witnesses on the scene said they heard 20 shots ring off with a woman getting shot in the leg. She was later taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Witnesses made it clear that there was no tension building up to that shooting as the protest itself was peaceful.
This was the third reported shooting in Atlanta on Friday night. Police said that a man was in critical condition after a heated dispute resulted in gunfire. Elsewhere during the protests, there were reports of shots going off, though there were, fortunately, no injuries.
Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed by Atlanta police who were initially called to the scene because he had fell asleep in a Wendy's drive-thru. Former Atlanta officer Garrett Rolfe and Devin Brosnan have been charged in Brooks' death. Rolfe was charged with felony murder and 10 other offenses. Brosnan, the officer at the scene at the time of Brooks' death, was charged with aggravated assault and violation of oath.
