You Mad Hulk? Black Panther's Advance Tix Outsell Every Marvel Flick - Ever

Next month's Black Panther is set to do historic numbers if early sales are any indication. The upcoming, must-see flick's advance tickets have already outsold any previous Marvel Cinematic Universe flick ever released.

According to reports, Chadwick Boseman's new movie is igniting major expectations with sales skyrocketing in just the first day numbers.

Black Panther set records this morning, selling more advance tickets in its first 24 hours than any previous Marvel Studios movie, edging out Captain America: Civil War for the crown. What does this mean for the box office tracking for Black Panther? Well, Captain America: Civil War opened to $179 million in 2016, which could make that a good ballpark for Black Panther's opening weekend estimates. However, Civil War hit theaters in May while Black Panther gets an early start to the summer movie season in February - though it does fall neatly on the four-day President's Day holiday. Despite the hype, Black Panther still faces an uphill battle to beat out stiff competition in February movie releases as the all-time box office leader.

Industry estimates do not believe at this point in time that Black Panther will emulate Civil War's opening despite the strong. If that's the case, Black Panther would not only become the highest opening of all-time for a February release, besting Fox/Marvel's R-rated Deadpool ($132.4M), but the best opening before summer. Currently, non-Disney estimates before tracking believe Black Panther will post a $80M-$85M start with a possible shot at $100M-plus. (Deadline)

Last week, buzz developed over Top Dawg and Kendrick Lamar getting nabbed for the Marvel Studios project.

Internationally-celebrated Grammy® Award-winning global superstar Kendrick Lamar and Billboard Magazine's Executive of the Year, Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith, are set to curate and produce "Black Panther: The Album." The album will feature music from and inspired by Marvel Studios' Black Panther film including the lead single, "All The Stars," featuring Kendrick Lamar and label mate SZA, produced by Sounwave. "Black Panther" is directed by critically acclaimed filmmaker Ryan Coogler and stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Oscar® winner Lupita Nyong'o and Danai Gurira, among others. Lamar and Tiffith will collaborate with Coogler directly in the creation of music specific to the needs of the film. This will mark the first time that Lamar, whom Rolling Stone dubbed "the greatest rapper alive," will write, produce, perform and curate for a major motion picture.
