Senor Kaos Attends Killer Mikes R.A.P. Music Listening Party

Last thursday evening I was invited to a listening party for Killer Mike's, EL P (company flow) produced LP "R.A.P. Music" at Tree Sound Studios in ATL... I must say this might go down as the best album listening party I've ever been too.

I wasn't aware until that evening that Mike's Grandmother has passed away the day before. Listening to KM's music over the years, you hear him make reference to his grandmother on several occasions, however it wasn't until this evening that I realized how close their relationship is, and how much of an affect she had on his life.

Killer Mike played about 5 cuts from the new LP. There's a MEAN record with Mike, T.I., and Bun B "Trouble." The tracks "Raegan," and "Jo Jo's Chilli" remain in my mind as songs I can't wait to hear again as well. The highlight of the evening too me though, wasn't necessarily the music... It was listening to Mike speak, share tips on things you can do daily to play your part in the revolution, as well as standing up for what you believe.

If your never seen Killer Mike speak to a room of people before, he carries the charisma of Stokely Carmichael mixed with the tone of Tupac. He speaks with confidence, with authority, as well as with truth and experience.

Now.. I was supposed to be at this joint covering press, but real talk, if you know me then you know I'm NOT the type to fight 50 other photographers, camera men to get a picture. So I opted for chilling the back of the room and snapped a couple (literally only a couple) of pics with Killer Mike, T.I., and Nelly who showed up as surprise guests. Even old school ATL rapper Sammy Sam Da Hitman was in the spot. In ALL my years I've never met Sammy Sam, he was super cool and super funny though.

At the end of the evening I can say I truly left that place feeling inspired and motivated. You could tell it was a very hard and emotional time for Killer Mike, and if the shoe was on the other foot, I'm not sure if I can say I would of carried the same excitement and enthusiasm under the circumstances. I wanted to Salute the man before I left, but then I said... wait, I know how I will show my appreciation and how the rest of the world can too... Pick up Killer Mike's new album R.A.P. Music May 15th. Grind Time Rap Gang... BANG, BANG, BANG!

(In the picture you'll see T.I. and Killer Mike sharing the stage)... A lot of people may not know, Killer Mike and T.I. went to the same High School in West Atlanta.

In addition to T.I., Nelly, and Sammy Sam Da Hitman (old school ATL) came out to show Mike's new LP some love. MAY 15TH... DON'T SLEEP!!
