Gladys Knight To Lead Aretha Franklin Tribute At The 2018 American Music Awards
The 2018 American Music Awards (#AMAs) is quickly around the corner, and they are planning a tribute for the late Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin.
According to Rolling Stone, the Empress of Soul, Gladys Knight will lead the tribute, which will also feature Ledisi, Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin, CeCe Winans, and musical director Rickey Minor.
The tribute will be centered on Franklin's gospel roots and her 1972 album "Amazing Grace."
Sabrina Owens, Franklin's niece and the executor of her estate said, "When I heard some of the initial ideas for the tribute, I knew without a doubt that this tribute will go down as one of the best in American music."
Knight was one of the many performers to pay tribute to Aretha Franklin at her funeral last month. Knight took the stage and performed "You'll Never Walk Alone."
The 2018 American Music Awards air October 9th on ABC.
