The difference was that guns were not prolific and so easy to come by. First, we need to engage our youth by eliminating the need or desire to be a part of a gang. I believe that both family and faith, no matter what your faith may be, play an integral role in raising the standards of integrity and a sense of justice and fairness for every individual. This comes from strengthening family values, which you know as a minister, I foster every day. <b>VOTE TUESDAY September 10th. the most important election for New York City in a long time! 24414sean gardner, vote, win, peace, harlem, primaryblogs/9-2013/24414-sean-gardner-vote-win-s.jpg9/6/2013 Today's Daily Quote from your candidate, Sean Gardner.http://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/seangardner-sean-gardner-vote-win-24394/features/blogs/seangardner-sean-gardner-vote-win-24394/Posted by seangardner0http://www.blackvibes.com/features/blogs/seangardner-sean-gardner-vote-win-24394/#commentsFri, 6 Sep 2013 17:48 GMT<b>I believe city government needs to be proactive in creating tax incentives for employers who hire unemployed and under-employed youths and adults and keep them employed long-term. Dr. Sean P. Gardner is the Senior Pastor and Chief Executive Officer of the East Ward Missionary Baptist Church, located in the Village of East Harlem, New York. Dr. Gardner has not only been the senior pastor of the East Ward Missionary Baptist Church for the last 20 years; but has also completed a 20-year career in the New York City Police Department as the rank of Detective. Dr. Gardner decided to trade in his uniform and preaching robe when the residents of the 8th District NYC Council expressed ongoing concerns to him within their communities, and decided to run for the New York City Council. Dr. Gardner represents and serves one of the most vibrant and wonderfully diverse districts in all of New York City, covering sections of the neighborhoods of El Barrio / East Harlem. As a Pastor in East Harlem, Dr. Gardner became well-known to residents within the community as a tireless and thoughtful advocate for the people and communities he served, and he earned widespread praise for serving in positive and innovative programs dealing with several issues ranging from conflict resolution to child abuse prevention; and combating youth gang influences and drug abuse such as the Harlem Youth Marines Inc. which has served the youth of Harlem for over three decades; serving as their Chaplain and Chairman of the board. The expertise Dr. Gardner developed during his two decades of experience with law enforcement and criminal justice issues resulted in him being gravitated to serving in different organizations throughout New York City. Dr. Gardner is an Officer of The United Missionary Baptist Association. He also serves as a Member of The Baptist Minister's Conference of Greater New York & Vicinity, The Empire State Baptist Convention, The Baptist Convention, The N.A.A.C.P. Manhattan Chapter, and The New York City Police Department/N.O.B.L.E. Additionally, Dr. Gardner functions as Chaplain to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority; Chaplain to the US Department of Veteran Affairs; and 1st Lieutenant, New York Guard. He has contributed both his passion and his unique community-based criminal justice perspective to numerous issues. Whether speaking about the NYPD's stop, question and frisk policies; or the senseless youth killing tragedies and violence; or fighting for after-school programs for at-risk teens, Sean Gardner has spent his career advocating for the rights and progress of hardworking, everyday New Yorkers. Dr. Gardner attended New York University Theological Seminary; and North Carolina State University School of Theology, where he received his Undergraduate education and acquired a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies in 1997. He had been honorably depicted and properly conferred, humbly carrying both Doctor of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry Honorary Degrees. In 2010 he received his Master of Divinity through correspondence at Christian Bible Institute & Seminary. We need your help in bringing some spirituality to City Hall, by pledging to vote, donate, volunteer, and get the word out to all your friends and family within District 8; and vote for Sean P.
