As he raises the temperature in southeast Georgia to an all time high,
lyricist and street representative Star Easy is destined to make a name for
himself in the music industry. "Star Easy's explosive delivery on a
kaleidoscope of real life situations combined with his vivid word play and
remarkable focus makes him a far cry away from the average cat trying to
make it," says manager extraordinaire C. Wakeley. Wakeley is not the only
one who is aware of Star Easy's talent level, apparently his buzz has the
whole southeast anticipating his solo release. Star Easy's humble beginnings
are deeply rooted in the small sedated town of Waycross, GA, where he is
known to many as Marshard "Shard" McKnight. Before becoming known for his
surreal lyrics Star Easy's reputation preceded him as one of the top
quarterbacks in the state of Georgia which earned him a full football
scholarship to the University of Rhode Island. While making serious moves in
the sports arena, Star Easy also diligently wrote rhymes that earned him
several spots on the hottest mixtapes in his local area. This was his way to
ensure that he kept his musical passion alive while still being an athlete.
Mostly recognized for his intense voice and charismatic swagger, Star Easy
soon became known by his hometown as the heart of the community. He often
rapped about their struggles and joys as well as his own. Talent and drive
got Star Easy where money could not. In 2001 the football star departed from
his scholarship to prove to himself that he could take his music career to
another stratosphere. Already apart of a collaboration of young talent from
his hometown, Star Easy and close friends Palay, Killa, and Big Smoove
exclusively became known as the South East Georgia Boys or The S.E.GA Boys.
Earthwake Entertainment signed the S.E.GA Boys and together they rocked
towns across Georgia, Florida, and Alabama with soulful soundtracks that
people played their everyday lives to. The release of their first album in
2002 entitled "It's a New Day" gained radio attention from Waycross Ga. down
to Jacksonville Fl., However it was their second album Business Bout Ya Self
that won the group the 2006 Best Indie Rap Album of the Year award at the
Southern Entertainment Awards (SEAs). The year 2006 opened up many doors for
everyone involved in the S.E.GA movement. For Star Easy it was the year to
showcase his many facets as a true artist. His ability to write hit songs
gained him widespread notoriety being that he wrote many of the groups'
hottest songs on the first and second album including the hit song
"Georgia". The versatility that Star Easy seamlessly laid on each track
along with his slick word play certainly moved records out of car trunks and
major retail stores just the same. It is no surprise that Star Easy and
manager C. Wakeley, with the full support of the S.E.GA Boys, have decided
to launch Star Easy as a solo artist. Though Star Easy's introduction into
the music industry has been impressive thus far, he still remains bound by
the G-code- refusing to let money or fame make him transparent. Star Easy
explains, "This journey isn't just about me, it's a war for my entire
hometown. Now that all the weight is on my shoulders I have to stand up
because haters expect the worst. I want those that follow in my footsteps to
know that it's never just one way to achieve success and I will definitely
be a S.E.GA Boy for life cause I love them and I am so grateful for them
supporting this move." With the support of southeast Georgia and the rest of
the region, Star Easy is steady on his journey to portray life as vividly
and charismatically through his music, as only he knows how. Being a star
might not be easy but Star Easy definitely plans to be the next big one out
of the South.
