Arrested Development

Arrested Development

Arrested Development is a pioneering American hip-hop group formed in Atlanta in 1988. Known for their Afrocentric and positive approach, they stood out as an alternative to the gangsta rap that was popular at the time. The group was founded by Todd Thomas, also known as "Speech," and Timothy Barnwell, known as "Headliner".

Their debut album, 3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life Of..., was a massive success, earning them two Grammy Awards in 1993, including Best New Artist. The album featured hits like "Tennessee" and "People Everyday," which became anthems of empowerment and self-reflection2.

The group continues to make music and tour, blending eclectic African rhythms with hip-hop to create a unique sound. Their influence on hip-hop culture remains significant
