KOKOMO, Ind. -- An investigation is underway after a K9 died in a house fire in Kokomo Monday night.
Firefighters with the Kokomo Fire Department were called around 10:30 p.m. to the 900 block of E. Gano Street in response to a working structure fire. KFD said firefighters arrived on the scene and managed to contain the fire to two rooms inside the home.
Two K9s were inside the residence during the incident, KFD said. Firefighters managed to rescue one of them while the other did not survive its injuries despite life-saving efforts. No other injuries to occupants or firefighters were reported.
KFD said the fire was believed to have been accidental. It remains under investigation.
