Per IFD, units from the Lawrence Fire Department also responded to the scene. Crews from the two agencies brought the blaze under control in 20 minutes.

Fire, smoke and water damage impacted at least four of the complex's units. IFD indicated that 11 of the individuals displaced by the fire are adults, and the other three are children.

Investigators determined that the fire was caused by unattended food that was left on a stove.
