INDIANAPOLIS - Two juveniles were arrested after a police chase in downtown Indianapolis early Sunday morning.
According to a public police report, two 13-year-old males were detained for their alleged roles in the vehicle chase, and they now face five preliminary charges each. Both males face the same five charges:
- Resisting law enforcement with a vehicle - Class A Misdemeanor
- Dangerous possession of a firearm by a minor - Class A Misdemeanor
- Leaving the scene of a vehicle accident that caused injuries - Class A Misdemeanor
- Possession of marijuana - Class B Misdemeanor
- Auto theft - Level 6 Felony
The report IMPD filed on the chase indicates shots were fired at some point during the incident. It is unclear who fired the shots, when exactly they rang out, and why the shooting occurred.
IMPD's report indicates six 9MM shell casings and a Taurus Brazil G2C pistol were recovered from the scene.
According to IMPD's report, two vehicles were involved in the incident - a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2013 Ford Fusion. The report lists the Fusion as a "recovered" item.
The police report shows that two victims were implicated in the incident. The time and location attached to the report are 12:21 a.m. and the intersection of South Meridian and East South streets, respectively.
Police's report on the incident does not clarify what circumstances led to the chase. It also unclear exactly who, if anybody, was the target of the shots that were fired during the incident.
As of this article's publication, no additional information on the chase and juveniles' arrests had been made available.
