INDIANAPOLIS - Two women were shot during an early morning encounter in downtown Indianapolis.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched around 3 a.m. Friday to the 200 block of South Meridian Street where they found two women suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police said they were standing on the sidewalk when they got into an altercation with a man who pulled out a weapon, shot the women and then ran away.
Officers searched for the shooter but were unable to immediately find him. Investigators said descriptions of the gunman provided at the scene were vague.
The women were taken to an area hospital. IMPD didn't disclose the extent of their injuries.
Investigators were combing the area for witnesses and any surveillance video.
