6 injured in crash on Indy's southeast side

INDIANAPOLIS - Six people were injured in a Tuesday night crash on the southeast side of Indianapolis.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to 7535 Southeastern Ave. That's east of I-465 and Five Points Road.

The preliminary investigation found a four-door sedan was heading southeast on Southeastern Avenue when the driver lost control.

The vehicle veered off the road, went airborne and eventually struck a tree. Police said the sedan was "believed to have been traveling at an unsafe speed."

Six people inside the car were injured, including one individual who was ejected.

Four adults were taken to an area hospital in critical condition. Two other people-an adult and a juvenile-were also taken to the hospital. Police said they were in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
