INDIANAPOLIS - Drivers should watch for changes on the northeast side of Indianapolis thanks to a bridge demolition project.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, the old southbound I-465 bridge over 71st Street will be demolished. As a result, 71st Street and the adjacent trail will close.
The project is expected to begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 28, and last through 7 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 4.
Drivers should use 75th Street as a detour.
The closures will ensure the area is clear of drivers and pedestrians as crews rebuild the I-465 bridge over 71st Street.
The work is part of the Clear Path 465 project aimed at improving safety and traffic flow on one of the most congested stretches of interstate in Indianapolis.
INDOT said the work is weather-dependent and noted the schedule could shift based on the conditions outside.
