WXIN/WTTV -- These days, it seems like if you can't find it on Amazon, it doesn't exist.
That now includes prescriptions medications for your pets. According to Good Rx, Americans spend between $13 billion and $18 billion on pet medications every year. And with the overall cost of owning a pet increasing over the last few years, it might be worth your while to see if the Amazon pet prescription portal consul save you some money.
Amazon recently partnered with Vetsource, a leading veterinary pharmacy that carries hundreds of the most common pet medicines, all FDA approved.
To check it out, just go to Amazon and search for "Pet prescriptions." Type in the name of your pet's medicine in the search bar, and you'll be prompted to start the process of filing in the details, including your vet's name for approval. Once you're notified that the vet has approved the prescription, the medicine is shipped through Vetsource.
You can usually expect it to arrive in a week or less.
Since Vetsource is so popular, it's possible your vet already works with the company to fill prescriptions. Savings will depend on the medication you need and which pharmacy your vet is currently using.
While lower prices aren't guaranteed, it cold be worth checking out to see if it works for you.
