Authorities investigating fatal crash on Interstate 74 in Shelby County

SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. - Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that happened on Interstate 74 in Shelby County Wednesday night.




According to a notification from the Indiana Department of Transportation, the crash happened on I-74 westbound near mile marker 106 sometime before 9:30 p.m. As of 9:42 p.m., all westbound lanes of the roadway were closed to allow officials to clean up and investigate the crash.

INDOT characterized the portion of I-74 impacted by the crash as being situated between County Roads 400 and 675. The crash happened about two miles west of Shelbyville.




INDOT has not indicated exactly how many people were killed in the crash. It is currently unknown exactly what caused the crash.
