Bargersville deputy fire chief put on administrative leave for comments made on the job
BARGERSVILLE, Ind. - The deputy chief of the Bargersville Fire Department, who also serves as the Johnson County Coroner, has been placed on administrative leave from BFD.
Sources have confirmed to FOX59/CBS4 that Mike Pruitt will be off the job as deputy fire chief until August 1. The department reprimanded Pruitt over a comment he reportedly made during an incident on the job in May.
FOX59/CBS4's Rafael Sánchez has confirmed that the comment made by Pruitt was not sexual, racial or criminal in nature.
Pruitt, who also serves as the elected Johnson County Coroner, said that he is currently reviewing the situation. He also said that his paid leave from the fire department does not impact his position as coroner.
FOX59/CBS4 has also reached out to Bargersville Fire Chief Eric Funkhouser via text and voicemail. As of 7 p.m. Tuesday, we are still awaiting a response.
No other information has been immediately provided. This article will be updated as more information is released.
