Barn fire burns for 3 hours in Morgan County


MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. - A massive barn fire burned in Morgan County for approximately three hours while fire crews attempted to extinguish it on Tuesday night.




The Green Township Fire Rescue was dispatched at 9:02 p.m. to the 6400 block of Maple Grove Road on a report of a fire at a pole barn.




Fire crews arrived withing minutes and began extinguishing the fire. Upon arrival, the 7,000 square foot structure had already began to collapse.








Roughly 30 emergency officials worked for around 3 hours to contain the blaze. One firefighter was slightly injured during the fire. No other injuries were reported.




The barn sustained heavy damage, and nearly all contents - hay, straw, and equipment - are deemed a total loss.




The fire continued smolder overnight due to extreme high heat.
