GREENSBURG, Ind. - A Greensburg woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle while riding her bicycle.
According to the Greensburg Police Department, officers were called around 10:40 a.m. on Thursday to a report of an unconscious person in the road near Fleetwood Drive.
GPD said Nyssa Campos, a 20-year-old of Greensburg, was riding her bike on a walking trail when she approached the Montgomery Road to cross. She was then reportedly involved in an accident with a commercial vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
When first responders arrived, they found Campos lying in the roadway and did not see the other vehicle that was involved in the incident.
As the investigation developed, police located the commercial vehicle and its driver. Police said that the driver is cooperating with the investigation.
The Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team and the Decatur County Coroner's Office are assisting GPD with the investigation. This is an ongoing investigation.
