Sean "Diddy" Combs appealed his 50-month prison sentence Thursday before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, with his lawyers arguing the term was unfairly harsh. Combs was acquitted on racketeering and sex trafficking charges but convicted on two interstate prostitution counts. His attorney Alexandra Shapiro told judges "This was the highest sentence ever for this type of charge," claiming Judge Arun Subramanian violated new federal guidelines against using acquitted conduct for sentencing. The hearing focused on whether the trial judge improperly relied on charges the jury rejected. Prosecutor Christy Slavik defended the sentence, citing Combs' admitted domestic violence. The appellate court will issue a ruling in the coming months under expedited status.
