Mary J. Blige Expands Lifetime Deal With Three New Movies Including 'Be Happy'

Mary J. Blige has expanded her collaboration with Lifetime, signing on for three additional original films. The first project, Mary J. Blige Presents Be Happy, will be directed by Gabourey Sidibe and premieres February 7th as part of Lifetime's Love of a Lifetime movie slate. The film stars Tisha Campbell, Mekhi Phifer and Russell Hornsby, following 50-year-old Val (Campbell), a devoted wife and stay-at-home mom who attempts to revive her marriage after her child leaves for college. Blige previously partnered with Lifetime on 2023's Real Love, Family Affair and Strength of a Woman, all inspired by her music. She also executive produced 2020's The Clark Sisters: The First Ladies of Gospel and starred in 2013's Betty & Coretta for the network.
