Bloomington traffic stop leads to porch pirate arrest

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - A traffic stop in Bloomington led to an alleged porch pirate being arrested.

Tiffany Flynn, 40, of Bloomington is charged with 11 counts of theft as a Level 6 felony. She also faces one count of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony.

According to court documents, a vehicle Flynn was a passenger in was pulled over on S. Walnut Street by Bloomington police on Aug. 30 due to the vehicle's license plate being unreadable.

The Bloomington police officer quickly noticed roughly a dozen packages in the backseat of the vehicle. The packages had numerous different addresses and names on them.

In the officer's report, he noted this particular area of Bloomington has a "highly prevalent" porch pirate issue, especially during this time of year when Indiana University students start moving in.

Flynn allegedly admitted to stealing the packages from various locations. During a search of Flynn's person, the officer reported finding a glass smoking apparatus in her purse along with a pouch of suspected methamphetamine.

Flynn allegedly confirmed the pouch contained meth when asked by police, court documents reveal.

If convicted of a Level 6 felony, Flynn could face up to two and a half years in prison.
