Brighter, drier start; more rain and storms threaten tonight and Thursday

Skies are mainly clear and temperatures much cooler out-the-door, as drier, more stable air has punched into the state, for our last day of the month. You'll need for a coat or jacket to begin your day, as we hover in the upper 40s and lower 50s at sunrise! Some patchy fog has developed south of Indianapolis.
This afternoon will bring a blend of clouds and sunshine, along with many, many dry hours. Afternoon temperatures should reach the lower 70s with southeast winds at 5-10 mph. Any rain chances should remain widely scattered. A day to get caught up on yardwork, no doubt.
A better chance of showers and storms returns later tonight, overnight and off and on for your Thursday/Friday! Still some dry time both days but a bit more unsettled (severe threat Thursday downstate), as we slowly begin to cool on Friday and into the weekend.
Right now, the weekend still looks mainly dry with an early shower chance on Saturday morning, near the Mini-Marathon hours. Expect frequent updates leading into the weekend and be sure to check in, as models are not consistent on when the rain will depart. One model includes rain on Sunday, too. One thing is certain, cooler air will be around all weekend.
