BROWNSBURG, Ind. - Fans eagerly awaiting the Brownsburg Wawa's opening may need to wait a bit longer after a fire broke out at the construction site on Friday.
Fire crews were called to the intersection of State Road 267 and East 700 North at approximately 11:35 a.m. after smoke was seen billowing from the unfinished building.
Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames at the Brownsburg Wawa construction site. A photograph of the aftermath appears to show that insulation caught fire on the incomplete building.
Wawa is a popular East Coast gas station chain that recently expanded into central Indiana. Fifteen Wawas are currently under construction in the area with a Daleville location poised to be the first Wawa to open in Indiana in mid-May.
While Wawa hasn't provided any information at this time, the fire will likely push back the opening of the Brownsburg location.
