HOWARD COUNTY, Ind. - A woman was found dead in a pole born on Friday afternoon, and the Howard County Coroner's Office (HCCO) is working to determine the cause of death.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the 1100 block of County Road North in Howard County on Sept. 19 at around 3:56 p.m. on a report of a woman found deceased inside the barn.
The victim was identified as 45-year-old Lacy Leigha Alexander.
According to a press release from the HCCO, investigators believe accidental carbon monoxide exposure is the probable cause of death. Alexander had reportedly been using a gas-powered pressure washer while cleaning a stall inside of the barn.

An autopsy was conducted on Monday by a forensic pathologist, but the final cause and manner of death are pending forensic toxicology and lab results. Authorities said foul play is not suspected.
This case remains under investigation by the Howard County Coroner's Office.
