NOBLESVILLE, Ind. - Innovation Mile continues to grow as Noblesville announces construction equipment manufacturer Caterpillar Inc. as the latest tenant to move into the city's new business district.
Just last week, USA Gymnastics announced it had selected Innovation Mile as the new home for USA Gymnastics' headquarters, along with a proposed Training & Wellness Center. Innovation Mile also recently debuted The Arena at Innovation Mile, home to the NBA G-League team, the Noblesville Boom.
"This is exactly the type of project we envisioned when we launched Innovation Mile," said Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen. "Caterpillar investing in Noblesville brings together innovation, advanced manufacturing, and meaningful high-wage job creation in a way that aligns with Noblesville's long-term vision for strategic, sustainable growth."
Caterpillar plans to establish a "cutting-edge motor prototyping facility" within Innovation Mile, moving into a facility previously occupied by BorgWarner on Westinghouse Drive. This 103,000-square-foot property was built in 2018 and faces Interstate 69.
Caterpillar said the facility will focus on the development of advanced electric motor technologies and is expected to create approximately 25 high-skilled jobs.
"This facility will allow us to advance our manufacturing technologies while leveraging the region's strong talent base and supporting the development of tomorrow's workforce," said Brian Dershem, vice president of engineering at Caterpillar.
