INDIANAPOLIS - The 27 full-time teams in the NTT IndyCar Series haven't had much rest this month. The first marathon stretch of their season continues this weekend with the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix.
Andretti Global's Colton Herta gave his team a shot of much-needed morale by winning the pole for the Streets of Detroit on Saturday afternoon.
"Happy to start P1 tomorrow - the best seat in the house," Herta said. "Now, we just need a nice, easy race. No yellows, go back to how it was before Indy - and make it easy on us."
Herta's teammate, Kyle Kirkwood, will start behind him on the inside of Row 2 for Sunday's race, while David Malukas will join the No. 26 in the first row.
"I think we can see this momentum carrying," Malukas said. "We're on a good run here."
Christian Lundgaard, Graham Rahal, and Alex Palou rounded out the Fast Six on Saturday. Rahal, however, will start in 11th due to a grid penalty for an engine change.
Race day coverage from Detroit will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. You can watch every IndyCar race this season on FOX59.
