INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Colts will hold a private service for Jim Irsay on Monday.
The team's long-time owner passed away peacefully in his sleep last Wednesday.
While Monday's service will be for family and close friends, the Colts announced there will be a public tribute at a later date.
Tributes poured in after the team announced the passing of Irsay, 65.
The team also announced this week that players would wear a black patch on their uniforms this season in honor of Irsay.
Irsay assumed ownership of the franchise in 1997 following the passing of his father, Robert.
Irsay's daughters - Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Kalen Jackson and Casey Foyt - will share ownership duties moving forward.
The highpoint of Irsay's ownership came Feb. 4, 2007, when the Colts defeated the Chicago Bears 29-17 in Super Bowl XLI in South Florida.
