Crews rescue 2 juveniles from White River on north side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS - Two juveniles were rescued from the White River on the north side of Indianapolis Sunday afternoon.
In a Facebook post, the Indianapolis Fire Department confirmed that its crews conducted water rescue operations in the White River near East 67th Street and North College Avenue around 3:13 p.m. IFD indicated that its crews were called to the scene because two juvenile girls had jumped into the river to retrieve a floatation device.
After the girls jumped into the river, they got carried away from the point they entered in by a current.
Bystanders heard the girls yelling for help and alerted 911 dispatch of the situation.
Soon after IFD top water and rescue dive teams arrived at the scene, they located the girls and brought them to safety. The girls were checked out by medics and later released to their parents.
IFD reported that its crews got the girls out of the water within about 15 minutes of their arrival.
